The line of heads alongside the gurney are alters produced by the trauma of this training session. Some of these might be discovered and used by programmers, some will become "throwaways". (That is, until they are rescued or integrated through therapy.)

In these sessions, one half of the brain and its corresponding (opposite) side of the body have been completely anesthetized. This produces alters who can only access one side of the brain. It is extremely effective in limiting access to memories or abilities used in operations or other training sessions.
